Two more candidates file for Civic Election 2010
1. Community activist Rod Morley has filed his nomination papers for the race in Ward 3, the northeast London ward currently represented by 30-year-veteran Councillor Bernie MacDonald. In 2006, Rod Morley also ran in Ward 3, coming in a distant second to Bernie MacDonald with only 792 votes. MacDonald was elected with 3,725 votes;
2. Graduate student-teaching assistant-activist Jeffrey Preston has filed his nomination papers for the race in Ward 14, the southeast London ward currently represented by Councillor Cheryl Miller who won't be seeking re-election. Last year Jeff was named to the 2009 Mayor's New Year's Honour List.

 AN OLD ABORIGINAL WINTER GAME: The Museum of Ontario Archaeology will be hosting a Snowsnake Tournament and Winter Festival March 6-7. This two-day event will feature competitive Snowsnake teams as they throw a specially prepared “snow-snake” down a snow track in this challenging First Nations’ sport played for over 500 years.

BREAKING NEWS: Man with a gun surrenders to police at 58 Wilson Avenue near Labatt Park
ON FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 2010, at 11:55 am London Police were called to 58 Wilson Avenue near Labatt Park in regards to information received that a man was in possession of a gun inside the residence.
Police closed surrounding roads, including Wilson Avenue for a period of time.
After negotiations with the disturbed man, he surrendered to police and was taken into custody at 1:41 pm. There were no injuries. The residence was searched and a gun was found.
The investigation is continuing. The roads are no longer closed and are open for traffic.
