When Butch (The Beast) McLarty (above left) was a little whippersnapper growing up in Strathroy, Ontario, his hero was big band leader Gaetano (Guy) Lombardo (above, right; 1902-1977).
BREAKING NEWS: Council backtracks on recommendation to unload Lombardo hydroplane
THIS JUST IN: Tonight, city council voted 17-1 to refer the matter of the disposition of the Lombardo Tempo VII hydroplane to the London Advisory Committee on Heritage and to also hold a public participation meeting on the matter as well.
Controller Gina Barber made the motion; Controller Gord Hume was the sole dissenter opposing the motion; Ward 9 Councillor Susan Eagle was absent.
