  • [Fontana Nominees:] 'Three councillors, Denise Brown, Judy Bryant and Sandy White, were informed there would be no medals for them.' ~ Gina Barber

Funny how am980 is reporting Denise Brown has refused her medal when it appears she'd been pared from the list of recipients anyway. am980 Story Here

WED. FEB. 6: Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for London and area with 15 cm of snowfall, blowing wind, drifting and the potential for freezing rain in London late Thursday thru Friday late morning.

  • THOUGHTS DU JOUR, FEB. 6: 1. A city's mayor and its city council should be inspiring its constituents, not repeatedly embarrassing them.

    2. Any city councillor medal recipient should be forced to wear it 24-7, forever. That way we can spot the idiot in a crowd.

    LONDON CITY HALL ~ OPINION

Why would Londoners want to e-mail the Village Idiot®?

BULLSHIT DETECTOR: A mandatory device to have on hand whenever Steve Orser or any member of the Fontana 8 start flapping their lips

Yesterday morning (Feb. 5) on 1290-CJBK-AM with Steve Garrison, Ward 4 Coun. Steve Orser blamed the local media for fanning the flames of London's Diamond Jubilee Medal fiasco and said he'd only received about five negative e-mails about it.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out people don't e-mail Orser to complain about issues of the day since Londoners rightly perceive him as a total write-off, akin to the Village Idiot® ~ an arrogant one at that.

If Orser had responded with something along the lines of "the mayor made a mistake and so we did we as a council" with some humility, Londoners could at least respect the honesty. But deflecting the blame, attempting to pin it on the media, just makes matters worse.

Did the media force our shameless mayor to nominate 14 councillors to receive medals? ~ awards meant to recognize the outstanding, community-minded efforts of private citizens.

Did the media force the majority of our incompetent council to endorse these medal nominations, including Fontana's old buddy George Avola, who was convicted of three counts of municipal corruption in 1997?

Did the media force Ward 11 Coun. Denise Brown to nominate Alexander Brown, her 18-year-old son for a medal?

Did the media force the majority of our embarrassing council to endorse the nomination of Denise Brown's son?

    Hardly.

This is why it's painfully obvious an increasing number of Londoners perceive Orser and his incompetent, self-serving Fontana-8 mates in such a negative light ~ since they've proven themselves incapable of making decisions in the best interests of London and Londoners alike.

Hey Joe! It's time to make like a snowman and melt away for good.

To idiot Orser. Shut the puck up.

Following is Coun. Harold Usher’s Feb. 1 e-mail to councillors:

    Hi Everyone,

Please be advised that I have been informed by FCM, on behalf of the
Governor General’s office, that there are no more Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
    Medals available for London. Most nominees are honoured to be Nominated;
unfortunately not everyone could be given a Medal

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal endeavour has been a tremendous
positive success for London, despite the fact that some media personnel have
tried to put a negative spin on it. London has done well to take it forward and
NOMINATE a relatively large number of its worthy citizens — larger than any
other Municipality, I might add. Unfortunately, in anything as worthy as this,
there will be more NOMINEES than available AWARDS. In our case that is so.
Nevertheless, we are proud of our citizens and the people we nominated for
this award — successful or not. Those to whom I have spoken are also very
thrilled and proud to have been nominated.

I look forward to join you in giving due recognition to all the NOMINEES next
week Wednesday evening at the Hilton Hotel.

    Warmest personal regards,

    Harold Usher"
